Types of bariatric surgery Learn more about weight loss surgery
Minimally invasive bariatric surgery (also known as laparoscopic bariatric surgery) means completing your weight loss surgery without having to make a large, open incision.
The field of bariatric surgery is constantly evolving as we discover new procedures that are safer and less invasive. At the BMCC, we’re committed to innovatively incorporating cutting edge treatments and technologies when they are safe, effective, and can provide additional benefit for you.
The LAP-BAND® procedure is a surgical procedure that decreases the amount of food intake required to feel full. However, LAP-BAND® surgery is riskier than other similar procedures and carries a greater risk of complications.
Loop duodenal switch surgery (SADI-S or SIPS) removes most of your stomach and bypasses part of your small intestine so that you absorb fewer calories. Most of our bariatric patients lose 80-100% of their excess body weight.
Our Colorado team can sometimes perform revisional bariatric surgeries to help reduce a stretched initial bariatric operation back to an effective weight loss size or to convert patients who have previously had another bariatric operation to a different bariatric surgery to treat some problem.
The gastric bypass is the gold standard of weight loss surgery. The roux-en-y gastric bypass shrinks the size of your stomach and bypasses some of your small intestine to decrease caloric absorption. Most of our patients lose 65-90% of their excess body weight.
We operate out of Lone Tree, and offer bariatric surgery to patients in the Denver area. Many patients also come to us from throughout Colorado or other states.
