Dr. Joshua Long grew up in Dallas, TX. He was blessed to receive an excellent medical education at UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX.
Dr. Long completed his surgical residency and fellowship training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a leader in minimally invasive surgical training. While there, he helped pioneer novel laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques.

Because Joshua Long believes in meeting every patient at their point of need, he has achieved a dual board certification in Bariatric Medicine through the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM). He focuses on lifestyle transformation techniques, coupled with surgical procedures, to help patients suffering from obesity to reclaim their lives. His focus on diet, exercise, and nutritional education, in addition to surgery, has helped him to change hundreds of patients’ lives and maintain those results.

He has achieved numerous recognitions from his peers and patients for his superior surgical technique and clinical care. Dr. Long has also gained national recognition for his quality of care, and serves as a national bariatric program site reviewer.
Dr. Long serves as the medical director for Parker Adventist Hospital, where he designed an IRB protocol to offer the loop duodenal switch (SADI-S). He also served as a co-author for the national obesity algorithm. He has served as a national guest speaker on various surgical topics.
