Under the direction of the BMCC and Dr. Long, AdventHealth Parker is a recipient of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) comprehensive MBSAQIP center designation. The ASMBS also recommends some of our processes nationally as a model for other weight loss surgery centers.
Dr. Long also participates in several other MBSAQIP centers of excellence in the Denver metro area. He has served as a national and regional MBSAQIP (Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program) bariatric surgical site reviewer in his commitment to improving bariatric surgical quality and outcomes nationally. He has also been invited to participate as well as locally at the hospital and in his practice on the ASBP (American Society of Bariatric Physicians) previously served on the OMA (Obesity Medicine Association- formerly ASBP). This makes him one of a select few surgeons to be invited to develop and revise the national standard for obesity evaluation and treatment, and has also taught for the OMA certification review course in past years as a surgical, medical, and lifestyle content specialist.

Innovation
Dr. Long is a surgical innovator, dedicated to constantly improving his work to create the best, safest, and most powerful results for his patients. The BMCC is one of the first practices to offer loop duodenal switch surgery (SADI-S), which reduces side effects such as dumping syndrome.
Dr. Long also contributes to the creation of emerging bariatric technologies and procedures. In his fellowship, for instance, he helped to develop novel robotic surgical procedures. He continues to innovate in the field, and makes sure his patients have access to the latest surgical procedures.
